Rafe Anderson's parents were friends with Josefine's parents which made them the best of friends as children. Rafe's father was the mayor of New Orleans while Josefine's father was the chief of police. Both kids aspired to join the fields of law enforcement when they were adults. As they grew into teenagers, their parents pressured them, mostly Rafe into dating. Josefine however, didn't need much convincing because she was in love with Rafe and dreamt of their life together every day. The two were engaged while still in high school.

But when Rafe, a year older than Josefine, came of age, he encountered a military recruiter that convinced him that military was the way to go. Rafe informed Josefine and their family of his decision right before he left for boot camp.

Although Josefine was not thrilled about their plans being derailed and feared for his safety, she went along. They married right before he was deployed overseas.

Josefine Auclair went on to college for law while he was gone. Four years later when Rafe returned he looked the same but he was different. It became clear he was suffering from PTSD but refused treatment. Meanwhile, outbursts of rage became more frequent and increasingly violent. Josefine tried to support him and continue to build their life together but he just continued to recede further from her. The behavior came to a head when he hospitalized Josefine and she finally had to come to terms with her life and what could happen if she didn't get out. She could no longer wear rose colored glasses with Rafe or she could be dead long before her time.

When she went to her family for support to divorce Rafe and hold him accountable, they were reluctant to give it, fearing consequences from his father, the mayor and the withdrawal of benefits they enjoyed as friends.

Josefine realized she was on her own if she wanted to escape.

She remembered something a friend from college had told her and began to make secret plans for weeks beforehand.

Finally, with everything in place, she completely ghosted her husband, leaving no trace of her behind. Their house was empty of anything that belonged to her. Her car was gone. Her social media accounts had all been deleted. Her phone was left on the kitchen countertop next to her keys to the house and divorce papers he had only to sign for the divorce to be final. Her name had been removed from their lease.

And finally, her name had been changed to Etoile Stallon without his knowledge.

Rafe called the police and claimed, despite all the evidence to the contrary, his wife had been kidnapped. She is still considered a missing person in New Orleans rather than facing how he treated his wife.

This is a wanted role for the Discord writing group Dirty Justice, a literate group that accepts para-multipara writing in the genres of slice of life and crime, set in the fictional small town of Sterling, TX outside of Dallas. It is preferred that the person who takes the role be able to write multipara.

In the past, people in the Animal Crossing community would make fun of Tom Nook as a sleazy landlord. Since then, he's really rehabilitated his image as this 'heart of gold' businessman (he's the one who puts bells and furniture in trees for you to find! he adopted orphans! he donates to charity!), but New Horizons genuinely paints the most devious version of him.

He's successfully privatized settler colonialism: you pay HIM to move to a "deserted island" (which apparently the oceans in the AC world are just full of) and start a colony that he is directly invested in. At best he's running a weird vacation package scam (you arrive on the island with no money and in debt for "using his services"). At worst, he's using you to set up company towns. For god's sake, he literally has his own fake currency that he forces you to use to pay off your debt. But don't worry, he's repackaged it in a way that definitely doesn't sound like an MLM scam: the Nook Mileage Program!

You're no longer just his tenant or his temporary part-timer, you're his business lackey. The entire tutorial section of the game has you spending actual weeks running around completing tasks and doing hard labor to set up his colony. You're even tasked with preparing his properties and finding buyers for them. No, you aren't a tenant anymore. You work for the landlord. You are directly responsible for finding tenants for him. And he doesn't even fucking pay you. Not for setting up town hall and museum, or his nephew's shop –– which is the ONLY store on the entire island that sells necessities –– or bringing KK Slider to town, or helping populate his town. Not a single cent. No, actually, you have to pay HIM to BUY infrastructure like bridges and stairs and park benches. And all the while, he's telling you're the "resident representative"; you get to call the shots! That the reward is the community's progress. That what you're doing is in everyone's best interest (but most importantly, his).

Since NH's release, people have done a lot of legwork to say that Tom Nook isn't a capitalist while the game shows him at his very worst. He owns the only general store in town. You're forced to use a phone that he modified and branded as his own. Buy Nook-branded furniture and merchandise at the self-serve kiosk in the town hall, a governmental building! There's no conflict of interest here!

But hey, if you're tired of being the landlord/business mogul's goon, you can also find work as a deluxe resort home designer for a company that also pays you in their special company currency that can only be used to buy their products instead of a real salary! Because that's what the Animal Crossing franchise needs! More vacation homes!!!

Can I just say, I really appreciate how Critical Role plays the Devil trope straight. There's been this phenomena in a lot of modern media (I'm not going to mention specifics but I'm sure a few examples pop up in people's minds) where Hell and the Devil aren't scary or malevolent forces. Hell is portrayed as being basically the same as our world just "edgier", and the Devil is a pretty decent guy actually. Heaven are secretly the real bad guys!

But Critical Role doesn't do that. In Exandria, Asmodeus *feels* like the Devil. He's malevolent and manipulative and terrifyingly powerful and he hates you, personally. We never see that type of portrayal anymore! And it's amazing! And he still manages to be sympathetic and tragic without losing his edge!

And the "Good Gods" are portrayed as flawed without being secretly evil or something! Like, actual nuance? In my Heaven/Hell dichotomy? What!?

It's just such a breath of fresh air after so many "The Devil was right, actually" stories. So props to Matt and Brennan and the cast.

I gave up on the original pretty quickly because I discovered that casein is even more of a nightmare for portraits than gouache. I didn't save the original reference, unfortunately, so I had to cobble together several images of people during twilight to get a grasp of the lighting.
